PLAYFULS by Ava Parris
Production Design all handmade by me (elsie)!
Such a blast collaborating with Ava on this project and bringing her creativity to life through built form.
The set included 5 plywood cubes, 2 operable pinwheels made from tubing and paper, and painted cardboard shapes. The production of this encapsulated Ava’s tactic of solid colors and simple-looking forms, made with craft, patience, and precision.
Ava’s Collection “‘PLAYFULS’ explores the relationship between childhood creativity and adult structure. Inspired by research on early brain development and the importance art, play, and hands-on learning has in developing minds. Through oversized tailoring, primary colors, and exaggerated proportions inspired by childhood dress-up, the collection reimagines classic workwear through a more playful and expressive lens.”
